Goes Out

How it works

Pick one of your own Spotify playlists. Goes Out reads the songs, the album art, and the years, and builds a page coloured by the records themselves.

One song per screen. Write a few lines about why it is on the list and what to listen for. Skip any you have nothing to say about.

You get a page at its own address that reads like a dedication. No feed, no comments, no followers. One person opens it and reads it.

Goes Out asks Spotify for permission to read your playlists. Spotify only lets an app read the contents of playlists owned by the account that made them, so this step cannot be skipped.
You sign in on Spotify’s own website, at accounts.spotify.com. Goes Out never sees, asks for, or stores your Spotify password.
The access is read-only. Goes Out cannot change, delete, or create anything in your Spotify account, and cannot play or download music.
The access token is short-lived and kept only for the minute it takes to read the playlist. No long-lived credential is stored.
You can withdraw the permission at any time from your Spotify account settings, under Apps.
